May 5th the 2009 drag race season started at Esta Safetypark Dragway in Cicero,NY. Duffer racing was there!!!! After a tough ending to the season last year. The car is up and running better than ever!
First weekend out and Rich ran the car the fastest it has ever run!
It was the second round of Pro and his dail-in was 12.71
reaction time: .557
60 ft: 1.661
1/8 mile e.t: 7.961
1/8 mile MPH: 83.66
1/4 mile e.t: 12.697 whoohoo!!!
1/4 mile MPH: 102.74
We were so excited by the 12.697 that it took some of the edge off the fact that he broke out and lost. Oh well there is next week.
Here is the rest of the stats:
1st round Pro: Rich ran a 12.710 on a 12.70 dail-in, what a great run. His reaction time was .516 and he ran a black Dodge Warlock.
2nd round Pro: I told you about but I didn't tell you he raced Rob Forbes.
1st round Mod: Rich raced a white Camaro, .552 reaction time, 12.70 dail-in,
and he ran a 12.755 at 102.05.
2nd round Mod: Ran a Yellow Camaro, Panic Attack, had a 12.72 dail-in, .642 reaction time. He ran a 12.783 at 101.81.
His burn out was kind of messed up and we think that affected his time.
It was still a great day, good to be back racing, nice to see friends after all winter and a new record for us!
We have four sponsors this year and I would like to name them and thank them!
First is our ever patient and wonderful Engine Builder and great friend Phil Sweeney,
Sweeney's Auto Repair. Deer River, NY!
Then there is Eddie from Eddie's Meat Market, Home of the best meat products ever!
He's in Indian River, NY!
We also have Paul Lyndaker and Adirondack International Speedway in New Bremen, NY
Circle Track Racing at it's best!
Our newest sponsor is our good friend Joe Lawler and his shop Instant Imprints in Carthage, NY. Joe and his team have created some awesome new t-shirts for the Duffer Racing Crew! Even the little crew chief has her own. I will get some pictures to show you all. If you live in the Northern NY area visit Joe in the Carthage shop!

It's past Christmas now and we are still working on the car! There are issues with springs and spacers. It is off season for racing so we are not a priority at the machine shop! Oh well, we have time! I still have to get the bent valve picture for you all!
Update on points: with all the troubles we had this year and the missed weeks, Rich still finished well:
Modified: 5th Place
Pro: 17th Place
Of course: the Modified Wally Win!
In all a decent year! Hopefully 2009 will be better!

We didn't stay for the end of the day! To much going on at the track alot of broken vehicles and clean ups! Wasn't worth staying!
